STEM Alabama
STEM Alabama is a W3RTech program connecting young people in Brewton and Escambia County with science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and liberal arts. Through practical learning, mentorship, and community connections, the program helps students explore their interests and imagine new possibilities.

Our mission in Alabama
W3RTech’s Alabama work has centered on the John L. Fisher Community Center in Brewton, serving young people in the surrounding Escambia County community. The program connects technical and creative learning so students can develop confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.
STEM Alabama is part of W3RTech’s own program work. It complements the organization’s connections in South Florida and Tampa Bay while retaining its Alabama location and community identity.

Learning through experience
Program activities bring STEM and liberal arts into practical settings through hands-on workshops, experimental projects, mentorship, and exposure to local industries. Areas explored in the program’s history include drone technology, woodworking, information technology, and robotics.

A local program with history
The Alabama program launched in November 2016. Earlier W3RTech reporting describes participation by more than 500 students and community members. This is a historical program figure, rather than a current annual enrollment count.
The program’s history includes collaboration with local businesses, educators, civic organizations, and community volunteers. Its purpose remains to widen access to learning and help young people see possibilities in technology and the arts.
